Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is Rotary's leadership training program for young adults between the ages of 18 and 26.
RYLA emphasizes leadership, citizenship, and personal growth, and aims to:
- Demonstrate
Rotary's respect and concern for youth
- Provide an
effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders
- Encourage
leadership of youth by youth
- Recognize publicly
young people who are rendering service to their communities
The RYLA program in District 9600 is best described as:-
- An unforgettable experience in life, learning and laughter in a rural setting. The program's aim is to give young people personal, leadership and citizenship skills to succeed in all areas of their life.
- A five-day interactive learning and development experience focused on leadership skills for 18 to 26 years old.
- An individual and group learning and development experience facilitated by modern adult learning techniques, expert training teams, and special guest speakers.
- An opportunity for young adults from diverse backgrounds and with proven leadership potential to enhance the skills that will help them achieve their personal and and professional goals.
- An opportunity to learn from other like-minded young people and make new friends while being challenged both physically and mentally on their road to self-discovery.
- An experiential learning opportunity that will enable individuals to discover their uniqueness and how to communicate and work with others.

When: 7 – 11 April 2008
Where: Kindilan Outdoor Education Center, Redland Bay
Cost: $495

- If your club does not have a prospective RYLA candidate, but would like to support RYLA, please Contact the Committee to discuss other ways in which you could be involved.
- Use the RYLA program as an introduction into your local businesses to show to them the benefit of Rotary in general
Suggested time lines:-
Immediately:
- Place media release
in local newspaper
- Review material provided by RYLA committee
- Identify possible candidates
- By the 16 February 2008
- Invite local businesses to club information night on Rotary programs
- Interview candidate and select candidate.
- Complete the application forms and send to the RYLA committee with the application fee
- Organize the candidate to make a presentation to the club
After RYLA
- Invite the RYLArian back to a club meeting to make a presentation about their RYLA experience
- Invite the RYLArian to attend other Rotary programs that may benefit them
